Terms & Conditions

Redo & Renew

By booking a furniture upcycling service with Redo & Renew, you agree to the following terms and conditions.

1. Quotes & Estimates

All quotes are based on the information and photographs provided at the time of enquiry.

Where possible, I will provide an estimated price before work begins. If, once the furniture has been inspected, additional repairs, preparation or materials are required, I will discuss any additional costs with you before carrying out the extra work.

Quotes are valid for the period stated and may change if the scope of the work or requested finish changes.

2. Deposits & Booking

A 10% non-refundable deposit is required to secure your commission and allocate a space in my schedule.

Your booking is not confirmed until the deposit has been received.

The deposit covers the time reserved for your project and is therefore non-refundable if you cancel after your booking has been secured.

3. Customer-Owned Furniture

Furniture supplied by the customer must be suitable for upcycling and structurally sound unless repair work has been specifically agreed.

As many older and pre-loved pieces have had a previous life, hidden damage, weaknesses, previous repairs, veneer issues, woodworm, staining, odours or other problems may only become apparent once preparation begins.

I will always aim to take care of your furniture, but I cannot be held responsible for pre-existing damage or issues that could not reasonably have been identified before work began.

If significant additional work is required, I will contact you before proceeding.

4. Preparation & Finish

Furniture will be cleaned and prepared appropriately for the agreed finish.

The exact finished appearance may vary slightly from photographs, paint samples or colour swatches due to the original surface, wood type, lighting and application.

Hand-painted furniture will have the natural character associated with a handmade finish. Minor brush marks, texture and other subtle imperfections may be present and are part of the character of a hand-finished piece.

Unless specifically agreed, backs of furniture and the inside of drawers/cupboards will not be painted.

5. Colour & Design Choices

The customer is responsible for approving the chosen colour, handles and finish before work begins.

Where options or samples are provided, the final choice must be confirmed before painting.

Once painting has started, changes to the agreed colour or design may incur additional costs.

6. Repairs & Additional Work

Minor preparation and repairs may be included where agreed.

If I discover damage or work that requires significant additional time or materials, I will contact you before carrying out the additional work.

I reserve the right to decline work where I believe a piece is unsuitable, unsafe or uneconomical to restore.

7. Turnaround Times

I will provide an estimated completion date or timeframe when your commission is booked.

Turnaround times are estimates rather than guaranteed deadlines, as furniture restoration can sometimes uncover unexpected repairs or require additional drying and curing time.

I will keep you informed if there is a significant change to the expected completion date.

8. Payment

The remaining balance must be paid in full before collection or delivery.

Furniture will not be released until payment has been received.

I accept the payment methods stated on my website/invoice.

9. Collection & Delivery

Collection and delivery are available by arrangement and may incur an additional charge.

Delivery charges are based on the location, size and requirements of the furniture.

Unless otherwise agreed, delivery is to the ground floor only.

Customers are responsible for ensuring there is suitable access for the furniture to be safely delivered. This includes doorways, hallways, stairs, gates and parking.

If furniture cannot be safely delivered due to unsuitable access, additional delivery or return charges may apply.

10. Care After Completion

Upcycled furniture is intended to be used and enjoyed, but it should be treated with reasonable care.

Painted and finished surfaces can be damaged by excessive moisture, heat, harsh cleaning products, sharp objects and heavy impact.

Care instructions will be provided where appropriate.

Paint finishes may continue to cure and harden after collection or delivery, so extra care should be taken during this period.

11. Existing Furniture & Structural Condition

Upcycling is primarily a cosmetic restoration service unless structural repairs have specifically been agreed.

I do not guarantee that an older piece will perform in exactly the same way as a newly manufactured item.

Where appropriate, I will advise if I believe a piece requires professional structural repair before it can be upcycled.

12. Cancellation

If you need to cancel your commission, please contact me as soon as possible.

The booking deposit is non-refundable.

If work has already started, you may also be responsible for any agreed materials, labour or additional costs already incurred.

13. Abandoned or Uncollected Furniture

Once your furniture is complete, I will contact you to arrange collection or delivery.

Furniture should be collected within the agreed timeframe.

Where furniture remains uncollected for an extended period without prior agreement, storage charges may apply.

14. Photographs & Social Media

I may photograph furniture before, during and after the upcycling process for my portfolio, website and social media.

If you do not want photographs of your furniture used for promotional purposes, please let me know before work begins.

15. Handmade & Pre-Loved Furniture

Every piece is individual. Differences in grain, knots, previous repairs, veneer, texture and age can affect the final result.

These characteristics are part of the charm of working with pre-loved furniture and should not be considered defects where they do not affect the functionality of the piece.

16. Agreement

By paying your deposit and proceeding with a commission, you confirm that you have read and agreed to these terms and conditions.

These terms apply alongside any specific quotation or written agreement provided for your individual commission.
